IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NALEO EDUCATIONAL FUND, JOB WILL CONTACT 10,000 LOW PROPENSITY LATINO VOTERS

Information and motivational messages poised to help increase Latino voter participation in the critical 2010 Midterm Election

San Diego, CA. – With just weeks left for the important midterm elections, Justice Overcoming Boundaries, in partnership with the NALEO Educational Fund launches a campaign which focuses on mobilizing Latino voters to help ensure they cast their ballot on November 2. The Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) campaign is a critical component of a coordinated nationwide effort to ensure Latino voters make their voices heard on Election Day.

The initiative targets 10,000 low-propensity Latino voters – young, newly-registered, and infrequent voters – in San Diego, California. Each voter will be contacted via a live phone call from a bilingual phone canvasser, with those intending to vote contacted again immediately prior to Election Day to ensure their participation.

“On the footsteps of record Latino voter turnout in the 2008 elections, it’s essential that we continue to push for greater participation in the Latino community,” said Nidya Ramirez, organizer of Escondido Human Rights Committee. “Latinos are the nation’s second largest and fastest growing population group, and their participation in this critical election will contribute to the vitality of our nation and democracy.”
